FAQ's
What is the difference between malai paneer and regular paneer?
Malai paneer is made from full-fat milk, resulting in a richer, softer, more flavourful block with higher fat content. Regular paneer uses standard whole milk without additional cream. Malai paneer has a creamier bite, absorbs marinades and sauces better, and is the preferred choice for restaurant-style dishes like shahi paneer, paneer tikka, and paneer makhani.
Why does Truly Desi Malai Paneer stay soft after cooking?
Two reasons: first, we do not use calcium chloride, the hardening agent responsible for the rubbery texture in most commercial paneer. Second, the full-fat malai content naturally lubricates the protein matrix, keeping it tender under heat. For best results, add paneer to curries in the final 3–4 minutes of cooking and avoid over-frying.
Is malai paneer good for muscle building?
Yes. Truly Desi Malai Paneer contains approximately 18–20g of complete protein per 100g, delivering all essential amino acids for muscle repair and synthesis. While higher in fat than low-fat paneer, the fat-soluble vitamins and caloric density also support energy needs for active individuals. For lean muscle building with lower calories, our Low Fat Paneer is the better option.
How should I store fresh malai paneer?
Store Truly Desi Malai Paneer in the refrigerator at 4°C or below. Consume within 48 hours for peak freshness, texture, and taste. If you want to extend storage by 1–2 days, immerse the paneer block in cold water in an airtight container and change the water daily. Do not freeze, freezing changes the protein structure and makes paneer grainy and crumbly.
